Colombo’s culinary scene enjoyed a flavourful upgrade with the opening of Turkish cafe Chayhane, in Colpetty.

Born from the passion of Naura Aufer, a corporate travel consultant, the cafe was created to fill the gap in authentic Turkish dining in Colombo.

Inspired by the warmth of Turkish hospitality and its rich culinary traditions, Aufer envisioned a space where guests could immerse themselves in the true Anatolian experience.

The name Chayhane means ‘a room for tea,’ reflecting the cafe’s inviting atmosphere, which is designed to foster connections and relaxation. Chayhane combines Middle Eastern aesthetics with a cosy vibe, transporting guests straight to the heart of Türkiye.

Chayhane’s menu features Turkish specialities including aromatic local coffee and tea, an all-day breakfast platter, menemen, shakshuka, sucuk and arayes, as well as Anna Paul’s viral Turkish pasta.
