Dhanusha Marine is making waves in the shipbuilding world with the launch of Maanya Mooya, the largest fiberglass fishing vessel ever built in Sri Lanka.

The impressive 25 metre vessel, recently unveiled at the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour, demonstrates the company’s advanced boat building capabilities and marks a milestone for the country’s shipbuilding sector.

Designed with cutting-edge technology and built to international standards, the vessel is set for export to Somalia.

The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Fisheries, and Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, both of whom highlighted Sri Lanka’s growing potential to become a shipbuilding hub.

While the importance of expanding the nation’s shipbuilding capabilities beyond fishing vessels with a focus on producing larger ships in the future was emphasised, attention was also drawn to the nation’s rich human resources and strategic location as key factors in establishing Sri Lanka as a hub for shipbuilding.

Known for exporting fishing vessels to countries such as South Korea, Kenya and Norway, Dhanusha Marine has taken a giant leap with this new project, which signals the country’s growing influence in the global ship production market.
