A hot new culinary pop-up is making waves in the coastal hub of Ahangama. A three month venture by restaurateur Dom Fernando, FRIDA is bringing the bold and smoky flavours of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula to Sri Lanka.
Located at Sundays Cafe, FRIDA offers a modern spin on Mexican street food, featuring flame grilled dishes and cocktails with a unique twist.
So what’s in the name?
It is a tribute to the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who was known for her bold and fearless style. And much like Kahlo, FRIDA isn’t shy about experimenting.
Fernando, who has built a reputation for pushing boundaries in the kitchen, combines locally sourced Sri Lankan ingredients with authentic Mexican flavours, promising an exciting dining experience.
Though the pop-up will only be around for a few months, Fernando – the visionary behind the Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded Paradise Soho in London – plans to open a permanent outlet later this year.
