Sri Lanka is making history with its first coffee heritage trail, launched at the Tree of Life Nature Resort in Kandy.
Set within a 65 acre estate, the resort recently launched a 1.5 kilometre trail that takes visitors on an immersive journey through the island’s coffee heritage.
The trail provides insights into Sri Lanka’s rich coffee history with a focus on the revival of Ceylon coffee.
Visitors can take a guided tour through plantations, learn about sustainable farming and local community initiatives and enjoy traditional Sri Lankan snacks with a fresh brew.
The journey continues with a sneak peek into coffee processing – from pulping and fermenting to roasting – followed by a tasting session where guests can savour a variety of brews prepared by an expert barista.
Another highlight of the experience is an opportunity for visitors to plant a coffee tree.
Supported by Australia’s Market Development Facility, the unique trail is set to bring global attention to the island’s specialty coffee and its potential in international markets.
