VELUPILLAY EARNS PLACE IN AUSTRALIA SQUAD

Australia has named Nishan Velupillay, of Sri Lankan heritage, in its 26 member squad for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup. Velupillay has earned seven international caps and three goals for Australia since his debut in 2024, and plays as a forward for Melbourne Victory.

Former India all-rounder Vijay Shankar has joined Kandy Royals as their overseas star for the Lanka Premier League 2026, alongside marquee signings Moeen Ali, Wanindu Hasaranga and Angelo Mathews.
