Commercial Bank of Ceylon (ComBank) has been honoured as the Best Bank in Sri Lanka for a record 23rd time by leading US based financial publication Global Finance.
This accolade is part of the magazine’s World’s Best Banks 2025 list, which recognises top performing banks across 150 countries including 28 in the Asia-Pacific region.
ComBank stands alongside global banking giants such as CBA (Australia), China Construction Bank (China), HSBC (Hong Kong), ANZ (Australia and New Zealand), DBS (Singapore), SMBC (Japan) and State Bank of India (India), reflecting its reputation for financial stability, innovation and customer trust.
In selecting the top banks for the year, Global Finance considered factors ranging from growth in assets, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development and product innovation.
Other subjective criteria included the opinions of equity analysts, credit rating analysts, banking consultants and corporate financial executives from around the world.
Commercial Bank boasts the largest market share among private sector banks for deposits, loans and total assets, along with the highest market capitalisation, gross income and total capital base. It is also the leading lender to the country’s SME sector.
The bank will be honoured at an awards ceremony to be held during the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Washington D.C. later this year.
